Hyderabad, Jul 10: Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has presented cash awards to the winners of its Green your School Contest 2020.

A release here Today said IGBC in partnership with Carrier has been organizing a nationwide challenge for young minds for the last 14 years, as part of IGBC’s flagship event Green Building Congress.

As part of this initiative, the top three finalists would be supported with a cash award of Rs 4 Lakh and the other five schools with Rs 1.5 Lakh towards implementation of green measures in their respective schools.

The year 2020 program was held from January – July 2021 and had participation from about 380 schools across India.

Notwithstanding the ongoing challenges, schools have enthusiastically participated and displayed their ideas & commitment towards the environment through their presentations. This year, the program was completely paperless. A dedicated website was developed for overall implementation.

The eight finalists for the year 2020 are Dalmia Vidya Mandir, Rajgangpur, Odisha, Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS Begumpet, Hyderabad, Prathmik Pathashala, Kakwadi, Gujarat, Dalmia Vidya Mandir, Chirawa, Rajasthan, Gyan Mandir Public School, New Delhi, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bowenpally, Hyderabad, Primary School, Zavda, District Dang, Gujarat and Ramnagar Primary School, District Anand, Gujarat.

The award ceremony for all these eight finalists was held virtually on July 8 & 9. The schools were awarded cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.

Mr. Chirag Baijal, Managing Director – Commercial HVAC Carrier India, Mr. V Suresh, Chairman & Mr. Gurmit Singh Arora, Vice-Chairman –Indian Green Building Council and the IGBC Chapter chairs & Co-chairs of Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Vadodara, Hyderabad, Amaravati & Odisha were also part of the ceremony.
