Brazilian Health watchdog approves emergency use of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine
Mexico City, Apr 1 (Sputnik) – The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) has approved the emergency use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against the coronavirus.
“The collegial council of Anvisa approved on Wednesday an interim permission for the emergency use of the vaccine developed by Janssen, the pharmaceutical subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson,” the watchdog said in a statement.
The Brazilian government has already signed a contract on the deliveries of the vaccine and hopes to get 38 million doses in the second half of the year.
Brazil is currently using two drugs under the vaccination campaign: AstraZeneca and China’s Coronavac. The country has also approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine and waiting for the deliveries later this month.(UNI)
