BJP criticizes AP govt for extending support to ‘Bharat Bandh’
Vijayawada, Sep 26 : The BJP took a strong exception to the Andhra Pradesh state government extending support to ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by agitating farmers against three farms laws on September 27.
In a statement here on Sunday, BJP state president Somu Veerraju alleged that the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy- led government had announced its support to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ only to divert the attention of people from the ‘deteriorated financial position of the state’.
The BJP leader found fault with the Left parties and some Farmers unions for giving a call for Bharat bandh demanding the repeal of three agriculture laws, stating that though the Union government invited the leaders for negotiations on the agriculture laws they had given a call for bharat bandh. Those who were opposing the three agriculture laws lacked knowledge and they had no sincerity on the farmers’ welfare.
Referring to the announcement of I&PR minister Perni Venkatramaiah that the AP government would participate in the Bharat bandh tomorrow, the BJP state president slammed that it is unethical and improper to the AP government to announce support to Bharat bandh when the state was stuck in a deep financial crisis. The AP government is joining hands with the Left parties which work opportunism as an agenda, he lashed out.
Mr Veerraju described the farmers agitations as an artificial agitation, being carried out with the support of vested interests.
The BJP leader said that the Narendra Modi headed Union government is creating MSP, e-marketing to the farmers and the new laws would provide an opportunity to the farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the country without hindrances. The new laws would also provide protection to the farmers from being deceived by the mediators, he claimed.
“Some elements are trying to destabilize the Modi headed Union government. There is a big conspiracy behind calling for ‘Bharat Bandh’. The people of the country should understand the conspiracy and support the Union government,” he appealed.
The BJP senior leader also flayed the Telugu Desam party for extending support to ‘Bharat Bandh’. He defended the Union government’s decision of privatizing the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) which has been earning huge losses for the last few years and stated that the TDP has no moral right to object to the move.
The Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy headed government is ruining the cooperative system in AP, and at the same time, it is opposing the privatizing of VSP, he said. The BJP state president called upon people not to participate in the Bharat Bandh.(UNI)
