Hyderabad, Jun 18 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporators and activists led by Mr Raja Singh, MLA held a dharna in front of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) head office here on Friday demanding removal of silts and encroachments on Nalas (drains) in view of rainy season.
The police prevented the BJP Corporators activists when they attempted to enter the GHMC office.
Later, Mr Singh, former MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and former Mayor Banda Karthik Reddy were allowed to enter the office to submit a memorandum to the Commissioner.
However, due to non-availability Commissioner, they came out from the office without giving the memorandum.
Speaking to media, Mr Raja Singh said the people had lost their properties and lives due to heavy rains. Keeping the past experience, the GHMC must act but there is no action so far in this direction, he said and added that the government has not bothered about the people’s lives.
Mr Reddy said it was painful that the GHMC Commissioner was not present in the office even though they provided information to him in advance.(UNI)
