Aurangabad ready to tackle 3rd COVID wave: Collector

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jan 3 : Aurangabad Collector Sunil Chavan Today  stated that the district is well-equipped to handle a possible third COVID wave.
He gave the assurance while speaking at the District Planning Committee meeting which was attended by Union Minister of State Raosaheb Danve, Aurangabad Guardian Minister Subhash Desai and EGS Minister Sandipan Bhumare.
While MP Imtiaz Jaleel, MLAs Ambadas Danve, Haribhau Bagde, Prashant Bomb, Atul Save, Sanjay Shirsath, Ramesh Bornare and Uday Singh Rajput, and other top district officials were also present.
Speaking further, the Collector underlined, “War-like efforts were underway in the district to control the pandemic. Special emphasis is being laid on vaccination. Corona testing is also being done on a large scale.”
“Today 244 samples have been sent for genome sequencing. The system is capable of considering a possible third wave,” he said.
Elaborating on the existing health infrastructure, he apprised, “A total of 360 ambulances are ready in the district. There are 552 ventilator beds and 21,391 simple beds. While, 21 metric tons of oxygen is available through 25 PSA plants.”
“With regards to the ex-gratia to the next of kin of COVID fatalities, 2,724 applications have been received out of which 1,941 applications have been approved. The scrutiny of the remaining applications is underway,” he underscored.(UNI)
