Aurangabad holds cycle rally on eve of World Yoga Day
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jun 20:Aurangabad Collector Sunil Chavan Today said that along with exercise and yoga, cycling is also beneficial in terms of health and environment.
In the era of global corona epidemic, everyone is aware of good health and environmental balance. So everyone should start making changes on their own and try to maintain good health, he further said.
He was speaking after the conclusion of the cycle rally organised from the Kranthi Chowk to the Collectorate for raising awareness about the World Yoga Day, which falls tomorrow.
Deputy Collector Sanjeev Jadhav, Deputy Collector (EGS) Mandar Vaidya, District Sports Officer Kavita Navande also participated in the cycle rally.
They were accompanied by Welfare Association President Rajendra Vani and Krida Bharti Maharashtra Pradesh’s Uday Kahalekar.
Mr Chavan remarked that through the rally, the players need to realize the message of cleanliness, yoga, and environmental awareness.
Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray is also giving guidance from time to time for environmental balance, he mentioned.
With that in view, we are implementing tree planting and cleaning activities in the city from time to time. Currently the green cover of the city is only four to five per cent, the target is 33 per cent. So everyone should plant trees, he added.
He continued that sanitation campaigns should be carried out from time to time to keep the environment clean and follow the rules to keep the corona away with wearing mask properly from time to time.
International Yoga Day will be celebrated tomorrow at the Divisional Sports Complex here.
Instead of crowding there, do yoga and send photos and videos about it. Out of this, prizes will be given to those who perform yoga in an excellent manner, he announced.
Mourning the demise of sprinter Milkha Singh, he mentioned that the late Olympic medalist and Padma Shri awardee made an invaluable contribution to the field of sports in India.
His contribution has always been an inspiration to Indians, the Collector stated before paying a silent tribute to the Flying Sikh.
Later, best cyclist of the rally were announced and Umesh Marwadi, Ashwini Joshi and Sonam Sharma clinched top three spots, respectively.(UNI)
