Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jun 30 : As per the countywide fortnight-long agitation from June 16 to 30 called by the Communist Party of India (CPI) and all the Left parties against rising unemployment, inflation and starvation, Aurangabad District Branch of the CPI activists on Wednesday held a protest agitation at Paithan Gate here.

They stated that the plight of the common people has been going from bad to worse with each passing day for the last few years. This is therefore an issue of life and death. The continuous rise in the prices of essential commodities has broken the back of the people, especially the working class.

The agricultural sector and farmers, small land holders, landless labourers, workers of the unorganized sector are all suffering from rising inflation. There are hundreds of instances where farmers have not received compensation even after paying crop insurance. Even small businesses have sunk during the corona epidemic, they added.

They also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and state chief minister through the district collector.

Their demands are as follows: reduce petrol-diesel prices immediately, cancel the increase in prices of fertilizers, seed implements and agro-medicines, cancel the huge increase in prices of all essential commodities, edible oils and grains, give financial help of Rs 7,500 / – per month to all the hard working families who are not paying taxes, as announced by the Prime Minister, since the village welfare and other schemes are in short supply, supply 10 kg of grains, pulses, edible oils, spices, tea, etc. to each family, pay compensation to farmers immediately in respect of crop insurance, provide easy crop loans to farmers among others.(UNI)
