Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes over farm laws, oppn members stage walkout

Puducherry, Sep 2 : Puducherry Assembly Today  witnessed uproarious scenes over the three ‘controversial’ farm laws enacted by the Union government while the Opposition DMK, Congress and three independent members staged a walkout from the house as they did not get a reply from the government over adopting a resolution for its withdrawal.

As BJP member M L Kalyanasundaram was participating in the discussion on demand for grants leader of the opposition R Siva(DMK) raised the farm laws issue and said that several states had adopted resolutions in the state assemblies seeking the withdrawal of the laws.
Mr Siva wanted to know the stance of the NR Congress-BJP government.
BJP Nominated member Ashok Babu then asked which clause in the law is against the farmers.
Civil Supplies Minister AK Sai J Saravanan Kumar intervened to state that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very concerned of farmers and the laws were introduced to ensure their well being and no farmers will be affected by the new laws.
As the other DMK members came in support of Mr Siva and Home Minister A Namassivayam and other BJP members joining the treasury side, the house plunged into uproarious scenes.
Mr.Namassivayam said that due to political reasons,farmers from only one state are opposing the three new laws.
Deputy speaker P Rajavelu,who was conducting the house asked all the members to resume their seats and announced that the Chief Minister is not present in the house and the issue could be discussed on his return.
The members later resumed their seats.(UNI)
