ASI killed, 2 others injured in Srinagar attack
Srinagar, July 12 : An Assistant Sub Inspector of J&K police was killed and two others were injured in a militant attack in a Srinagar locality on Tuesday evening, officials said.
They said militants fired upon a police naka party at Lal Bazar area of Srinagar city leaving three cops injured.
One of the injured identified as ASI Mushtaq Ahmed succumbed to his injuries, police said.
“We pay rich tribute to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty. Other two injured personnel are being treated,” a police tweet said.
Police said the area has been cordoned to trace the attackers.
The attack took place a day after two local militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed in a gun battle in Awantipora sub district of Jammu and Kashmir.(UNI)
