Aurangabad / Mumbai, Jun 23 :Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday announced that from July 1, ASHA volunteers in the state will get a fixed honorarium, with an increase of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500, as Covid allowance.
While the group promoters will get a fixed honorarium of Rs 1,200 and Rs 500 as Covid allowance.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the office-bearers of the Action Committee in Mumbai today.
This decision will benefit 68,297 Asha Sevikas and 3,570 group promoters in the state.
Following this decision, chairman of the Committee, M K Patil, said that Asha volunteers will start their work from tomorrow, said official sources.
It was also decided to give a hike of Rs 500 to Asha volunteers from July next year.
The minister also said that a smart phone would be given to Asha volunteers as a special gift.
A committee will be set up through Yashada to study the work of Asha workers and the honorarium they will get.

Mr Tope also said that an additional allowance of Rs 200 will be given to Asha volunteers for crowd management at vaccination centres.
It may be noted that Asha workers are on strike for their demands.(UNI)
