KAKINADA (ANDHRA PRADESH) , FEB 16    :    Kakinada Government General Hospital Superintendent Dr S. Lavanya Kumari inaugurated the surgical oncology unit at a function held at the GGH here on Friday.

She said the long felt need of the GGH for a surgical oncology unit was fulfilled with the unstinted support of MP Vanga Geetha Viswanath, District Collector Dr Kritika Sukla, City MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy and Rural MLA Kurasala Kannababu.

She said the surgical oncology OP unit headed by Dr Samantha Kumar would function from 5B and the Oncology surgery doctors would examine the patients at the OP on every Wednesday and Friday.
Till now the Cancer patients required surgeries were going either to Visakhapatnam KGH or the Tirupati Ruia hospital. Now it is a boon to poor cancer patients in this area ‘ she added.

Civil surgeon RMO Dr Pushkara rao, RMO Dr Anita, Nursing superintendent N. Sandhya Rani, surgical oncology assistant professor Dr Sarada were among those attended.(UNI)
