AP extends curfew relaxations till 9 pm in 8 districts

Vijayawada, June 28 : Andhra Pradesh government has decided to extend Covid curfew restrictions to 9 pm in 8 districts from July 1 and the Covid curfew restrictions will remain enforced in five districts.

At a review meeting here on Monday, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to lift the Covid curfew restrictions from 6 am to 9 pm in eight districts where the positivity rate of the pandemic was below 5 per cent.

However, the Chief Minister decided to continue to enforce the Covid restrictions from 6 am to 6 pm in the remaining five districts-West Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Chittoor and Prakasham-where the positivity rate of Covid was above 5 per cent.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to be prepared to face the Covid third wave. He asked them to make available the medical services to children through paediatrics. He asked them to make available the telemedical services of 150 paediatrics.

The officials apprised the Chief Minister that the positivity rate of Covid is above 5 per cent in 8 districts and it is less than five per cent in five districts. The recovery rate has gone up to 96.95 and there are 44,773 active cases in the state.

The officials informed the Chief Minister that there were 3,329 black fungus cases in the state of which 1441 were undergoing treatment while 253 had succumbed to the disease. As many as 1635 patients had recovered and were discharged. The officials explained to the Chief Minister the action plan which they had evolved to face the third wave.

Health minister Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas, Chief Secretary Adityanath Das, DGP Gautam Sawang and Covid Command Control chairperson K S Jawahar Reddy were among those present.(UNI)
