Amit Shah announces setting up of India’s first cooperative university
Pune, Dec 19 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah Today announced that India will soon get a university offering courses for cooperative training.
He made the announcement while speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management here.
Shah, who is also cooperation minister, said that the cooperative sector would play a crucial role in making India a five trillion dollar economy.
Reiterating that a varsity specialising in cooperative courses would soon become a reality, the minister said that there will be colleges of this university in different parts of the country.
Shah also unveiled the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in premises of the Pune Municipal Corporation.
He also laid the foundation stone of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and said “Shivaji Maharaj worked for justice, social welfare and self-defense, modernizing the army and building the first navy in the 18th century.”(UNI)
