Thane, Jul 29 :A special drive was launched to crackdown on the sale of MTP kits on e-commerce websites, the FDA stated here Today.
In the same regards, 34 online sites were scanned for the availability of MTP kits, the FDA said, adding that the agency officers placed orders so as to dig deeper into the illegal drug sale.
On four instances, two each on Amazon and Flipkart, the orders were accepted without asking for a doctor’s prescription.
This amounts to violation of provisions of Drug & Cosmetics Act, 1940. Hence, notices have been issued to these shopping portals as well as the erring drugs suppliers, FDA apprised.
Further action will be taken accordingly, it added.(UNI)
