All party delegation calls on Governor
Panaji, Mar 18 : An all party delegation led by Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
The delegation which conisted of Mr Kamat, Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijay Sardesai, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Jose Philip D’Souza, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) MLA Sudin Dhavalikar and Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar, demanded that the upcoming Budget Session of the Assembly be curtailed in view of ongoing Code of Conduct imposed due to municipal elections.
In a tweet, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said,”Led All Party Delegation to Hon’ble Governor of Goa
@BSKoshyari urging him to direct the @goacm to seek “Vote on Account” in Goa Legislative Assembly & continue Budget Session after Municipal Election process is over.”
Mr Sardesai said, ”Was part of United Opposition delegation to Hon Goa Governor B S Koshiyari demanding that upcoming Budget Session of Legislative Assembly be postponed after the results of 2 nd phase of municipal polls for the 5 remaining municipal councils to prevent violation of Cide of Conduct.”
The delegation also met State Election Commissioner W V Ramanamurthy and requested him to hold counting of votes of six municipal councils and Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and other five municipal councils, date for which is yet to be announced, together. The elections for six municipalities and CCP are to be held on March 20, 2020.
”Called on the new SEC Mr Ramanamurty to have simultaneous counting of both phases of municipal polls as is the convention of ECI so as to prevent results of one phase having impact on the other & thus prevent continued cheating in civic polls by @BJP4Goa inspite of SC strictures,” Mr Sardesai tweeted.(UNI)
