All is not well with Health department services in Hamirpur
Health Minister too upset and CORONA cases going up day by day
Hamirpur (HP), September 18.
All is not well with the health services in the district of Hamirpur, where the CORONA graph is going up day by day.
Forty-seven new persons were found positive in the district on Friday including forty-six through the Rapid antigen test method and one through the RTY-PCR method.
The number of active cases that had last month come down under 50 had also gone up to 338 and that the total fatalities had risen to 266.
No day passes without new cases and during the last week, one or two persons died due to the Virus on a daily basis in the district.
The latest report says that six students of the local Medical College and six others of the local health department had been found CORONA POSITIVE and it had created hue and cry in the department.
The health department authorities are searching the source of the virus as during the function of the minister, a nati was held and three of girls who had taken part in the nati were also found positive.
The function was widely attended and it is to be seen how many others who had taken part in the function at the NIT auditorium had interacted with those who were found CORONA POSITIVE.
This has led to great resentment and frustration among the people of the district especially the parents who could not send their children to schools due to the COVID conditions prevailing in the district.
The lack of coordination between the district health department and the Dr Radhakrishanan Medical College and Hospital authorities has led to such a pass.
The HP Health Minister, Dr. Rajiv Saijal who was here two days ago during a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan samiti of the hospital was upset with the affairs of the department and has reprimanded the authorities for their casual approach towards day to day happenings in both institutions.
Incidentally, the meeting of the RKS was held after three years and the minister observed that the authorities had come unprepared.
When the college principal requested the minister for approval of some posts and expenditure, the latter asked for the documents that the former failed to produce. It is learnt that the college authorities submitted that the old defunct CT scan machine could be sold at Rs 1 lakh. Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi rejected the proposal and asked the principal to submit requisitions on the file as nothing verbal is done.
The CT scan machine was out of order for the past two years and patients coming to the medical college had to go to private centers to get the tests done.
There are reports that the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur has sought a complete detail from the Secretary Heath and the Hamirpur district authorities and has told them to maintain proper vigil to control the situation so that it might not go out of hands and invite further troubles to the people of the district and the state government both at a time when the government was thinking of giving more concessions from the already imposed restrictions including the closing of the educational institutions in the state.(UNI)
