Alice Walker, a Pulitzer Prize winner, will take part in AKLF.

KOLKATA, DEC 13 : Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Alice Walker will be among over 100 speakers at the 14th edition of the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival (AKLF) slated to begin from January 12 next year, the organisers said on Tuesday.

The four-day event, which returns to its onsite format alongside a sprinkling of a few hybrid sessions, would be held on the majestic ground of the Indian Museum as well as the Oxford Bookstore here, the oldest of its kind in Asia.

The festival theme is 100 Years of the iconic bookstore, which is also curating the event, an Apeejay Group official said.

Lined up are sessions championing inclusiveness focusing on writings related to women, Dalit, LGBT, as also for the children and young adults.

There would be birthday tribute to writer Nabaneeta Dev Sen and centennial tribute to iconic filmmaker Mrinal Sen, as the fest covers a wide range – from historical fiction to biography, memoir to food and nutrition, wellness to mental health, cinema to poetry.

Alice Walker, in the company of renowned international, national and diasporic authors, will participate in the meet, which presents an illustrious list of speakers, including filmmakers Onir and Muzaffar Ali; poet Jerry Pinto and Jeet Thayil; journalist-columnists Bachi Karkaria and Vir Sanghvi; writers Durjoy Dutta and Shobhaa De and dancer Mallika Sarabhai.(UNI)
