Agriculture reform bill to protect farmers’ interests: Thorat
Mumbai, Jun 9 : Calling the three farm laws passed by the Centre government anti-farmer and anti-commercial, the Maharashtra government has decided to introduce an agriculture reform bill in the monsoon session that will protect the interests of farmers, State Revenue Minister and Congress Legislative Party leader Balasaheb Thorat said here Today.
Thorat said that the black agricultural laws introduced by the central government in the name of reform are devastating to the farmers. Any trader can buy a farmer’s goods on a simple PAN card, who will take responsibility if there is fraud in this, he asked.
All these things have been taken into consideration by our government while drafting the Agricultural Reforms Bill.
Former union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar’s contribution in this field is great. He has been in charge of the country’s agriculture department for more than ten years. So his guidance is important to us.
Thorat also said that Pawar expressed satisfaction over the reforms suggested by the state government and made further suggestions, he added.
Earlier this morning Mr Thorat, Co-operation Minister Balasaheb Patil, Agriculture Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Minister of State for Agriculture and Co-operation Dr Vishwajit Kadam’s delegation had an hour-long discussion with Mr Pawar on the state’s agriculture reform bill.(UNI)
