New Delhi, Sep 1 : The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of IRS officer JB Mohapatra as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex tax-policy body on personal and corporate taxes.
“The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the appointment of JB Mohapatra, Member, Central Board of Direct Taxes as Chairman Central Board of Direct Taxes,” said the government order on Wednesday.
The 1985-batch IRS officer had been given additional charge of CBDT Chairman in May, 2021 after the extended tenure of incumbent PC Mody ended that month.
Mohapatra had been been given additional responsibility of CBDT Chairman in May this year for three months or till appointment of a regular Chairman.
Mohapatra had earlier served as the principal chief commissioner of Income Tax for the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region.(UNI)
