AAP files complaint to Thane police regarding alleged insult to National flag
Thane, Aug 25 : The Kalyan unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made a written complaint to the Kalyan police with regards to alleged insult to the National flag during the funeral of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, AAP stated here Today.
President of the AAP Kalyan unit, Adv Dhananjay Jogdand and other office-bearers of the party have made the complaint to the Kolsewadi police station.
In the complaint, they have referred to an incident along with the pictures wherein during the mourning of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh, the BJP flag was placed above the National flag on the coffin containing the body.
Terming the incident as an insult to the nation and national flag, the complaint stated that the party president J P Nadda has created the crime by insulting the national flag and an offence be registered against him.
They also pointed out that the party president and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who follows ideology of the parent organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, had for several years in the past failed to hoist the national flag.
They demanded action against them under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
Adv Jogdand told media that they were awaiting action by the police with regards to their complaint and the police were yet to register an FIR (first information report) in this connection.
The copies of the complaint have also been sent to others including Thane police commissioner, director general of police, Home secretary and chief secretary, he added.(UNI)
