COVID-19 Vaccination catches pace in HP’s Hamirpur
Hamirpur, April 8: Covid-19 vaccination program has been gaining momentum in this district due to the constant threat of its spreading all over India.
About 70,000 covid-19 vaccines have been administered till date in the district and a lot of enthusiasm has been seen among the senior citizens towards the vaccination program.
Deputy Commissioner Debashweta Banik said that the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine has been given to 63,511 people in the district, while the second dose has also been given to 6,365 people.
She said that under this program, 42,029 senior citizens have been administered the first and second doses of vaccines.
Similarly, the first dose has been given to 12,985 people above 45 years of age. Out of 6,713 health care workers in the district, 5895 have been given the first dose and 4082-second dose and out of 3247 frontline workers.
There is excitement about vaccination among senior citizens above 60 years of age. An octogenarian, Sukkha Devi of the Kaloor region in the district participated with great enthusiasm in the Covid-19 vaccination. Similarly, 92-year-old Brahmi Devi and 93-year-old Bratu Devi of Bir-Bagehra have also undergone vaccination.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all persons above 45 years of age are now eligible for the vaccination of the Covid-19 vaccine. For vaccination, they can get vaccinated by going to the marked health centers.
She has urged all eligible people to get vaccinated to prevent the Covid-19 surge and to keep themselves, their families, and society safe from it.
Also, even after getting vaccinated, keep following the rules of wearing masks, safe distance, and frequent washing or sanitizing of your hands, so that the virus is not spread to other people, she appealed to the citizens. (UNI)
