Telangana sees 1,914 fresh COVID-19 cases, five fatalities
Hyderabad, April 7: With no sign of any let-up, Telangana recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases in 2021 with 1,914 fresh coronavirus cases being reported until 2000 hrs on Tuesday taking the daily count of positive cases to 3,16,649 to date.
Five patients died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours pushing the overall death toll to 1,734 so far translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 percent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.3 percent, according to a state health department bulletin on Wednesday.
A total of 285 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in the past 24 hours to take the cumulative number of recoveries to 3,03,298 constituting a recovery rate of 95.78 percent while the national recovery rate was 92.1 percent.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 11,617 including 6,634 individuals in-home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
In all, 74,274 samples were tested in the state between Monday and Tuesday to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 3,202 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, more than one crore five lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The worst-hit Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation continues to be the main contributor of the infection reported a maximum of 393 coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (205), Nizamabad (179), Rangareddy (16(0, Nirmal (104), Karimnagar (80), Sangaredd y(76), Kagityal (68), Kamareddy (64), Warangal Urban (60), Khammam (48), Nalgonda (40), Mancherial (37), Mahaboobnagar (36), Rajanna Siricilla (32), Adilabad (29) and Yadadri Bhongir (25).
The remaining coronavirus cases of the day have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added. (UNI)
