Puducherry, April 4: Former PWD minister and BJP candidate for Mannadipet constituency A Namasivayam was tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Mr.Namasivayam felt some disturbances during his election campaign last night and underwent a Covid test and proved positive for the virus.

Following this, he isolated himself in his house.

In a letter to the people of Mannadipet, Namasivayam said that since he was tested positive for the virus, he couldn’t come to their houses and meet them personally and that he will do this after his recovery. He urged the people to cast their vote in the” Lotus” symbol and elect him from the constituency.

It may be noted that Mr.Namasivayam who quit the Congress and joined the BJP leading to the toppling of the Narayanasamy government here was along with union home minister Amit Shah and the other BJP candidates in the last two days. Mr.Amit Shah was here on April 1 for a roadshow and Mr.Namasivayam was standing on the side of Mr.Shah on the vehicle along with union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, BJP state president V Saminathan, and BJP candidates John Kumar and Kalyanasundaram. Further, on 2nd April, Namasivayam canvassed Embalon Selvam(Manaveli), John Kumar (Kamaraj Nagar), and Richard John Kumar (Nellithoppe).

Health officials advised all who were in close association with Namasivayam in the last two days to test themselves for Covid and isolate themselves. (UNI)
