SJTA issues SOP for devotees visiting Sri Jagannath temple

Puri, April 4: Sri Jagannath temple administration (SJTA) has issued the standard operating procedure (SOP) for devotees intending to have darshan of the presiding deities of the 12th-century shrine.

As resolved in the March 23 meeting of the Chhatisha nijog, the apex body of the temple’s servitors, the temple would remain closed for devotees every Sunday.

This apart devotees must observe social distance norms, wear face masks, and sanitize their hands. They were asked not to touch any object in the temple and offer any things.

Social distance norms would also be observed by devotees while standing in queues to enter the temple.

Apart from the temple, the interiors would also be sanitized twice a week after the final items of the day were over, temple administrator( ritual Jitendra Kumar Sahu said. (UNI)
