Marathwada region records the highest 93 deaths in a single-day

Aurangabad, Apr 2 : Eight districts of Maharashtra’s Marathwada region reported the highest 93 deaths and 4,834 positive cases in a single day due to COVID-19, health authorities here told media on Friday.

The region worst affected due to the pandemic since last over one month.

Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad was the worst affected, which recorded the highest number of positive cases ie 1,481 cases and 34 deaths, followed by Nanded with 995 new cases and 26 deaths, Parbhani had 400 cases and 11 deaths, Jalna registered 473 new cases and 7 deaths, Beed had 393 cases and 6 deaths, Osmanabad had 283 cases and 4 deaths, Hingoli had 102 cases and 4 deaths and Latur 707 cases and a single death.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours total of 43,183 fresh cases of COVID-19 were registered across the state, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 28,56,183.

The state also registered 249 more deaths, taking the death toll to 54,898.

Meanwhile, a total of 32,641 patients recovered and were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,33,368 across the state.

The state’s recovery rate currently stands at 85.2 percent and the fatality rate is 1.92 percent.

At present there are 3,66,533 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centers and hospitals, they added. (UNI)
