COVID-19: 28 new cases in Hamirpur
Hamirpur (HP), Mar 30: According to latest data released by the district administration late on Monday, 28 more cases of COVID-19 were registered in the district.
While twenty-two people were detected to be COVID-19 through the RT-PCR test, six others were found through Rapid antigen test method.
With this, the total number of positive cases in the district has touched 3,408 cases including 239 active cases with fifty having lost their lives due to the dreaded virus.
Fourteen patients recovered on Monday. The number of recoveries have now reached 3,117.
Out of 239 active cases, 227 were under home isolation and twelve others were getting treatment at District level COVID care centers.
An official spokesman said that all cases belonged to different parts of the district including the Hamirpur town. He said that while seventeen women were found positive, the number of men was eleven.
Most of them had returned from a pilgrimage from Vrindavan and others were their primary contacts.
Meanwhile, all the shops and other business activities resumed normal functioning today following a two day break ordered by the District Magistrate, Hamirpur.
The festival of Holi was celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the district on Monday. People offered puja at various temples and also offered sweets and namkeens (salty dishes) amongst them.
Holi celebrations was a purely a family affair in the district as people were not allowed to play in the public places.
An official spokesman claimed that except a few cases, the shops remained closed as per orders. He said that more than two hundred people were also fined for not wearing face masks and thereby disobeying the COVID-19 orders.
He said that during two days of Holi vacations on Sunday and Monday, the staff of the local Civic body launched a special sanitization campaign in Hamirpur town to reduce the spread of the virus.
In addition people were also advised to ensure proper distancing, wearing of masks and repeated hand cleaning as well as to maintain cleanliness in the city as well.
He said that during the time of sanitization of ATMs of various banks located in the city, drains along the main roads etc. were also cleaned and sanitized.
Sanitization was also done in the vicinity of the bus stop, bus waiting place and shops built in the bus station campus.
Deputy Commissioner Debashweta Banik said today that all the civic bodies of the district have been instructed to take all necessary steps of cleanliness in public places and in regular contact with the general public, including sanitization at regular intervals.
She has also urged the people to cooperate in eradicating the epidemic by following the instructions issued by the government and district administration from time to time.(UNI)
