Telangana CM Orders Inquiry into ORR Lease Tender
HYDERABAD, DEC 19 : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has ordered an inquiry into the Outer Ring Road (ORR) tender, which was leased for 30 years during the BRS regime.
The inquiry is being conducted at the request of BRS MLA Harish Rao.
Meanwhile, Harish Rao, participating in a short discussion on financial matters in the Assembly on Thursday, blamed Congress leaders for claiming that the ORR had been sold. He stated, “The government is now in your hands, and you can cancel that tender.”
In response, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted that the late former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had constructed the ORR with funds from JICA.
He criticized the BRS government for awarding the tender illegally. Reddy emphasized that it was Congress that made Hyderabad a cosmopolitan city, bringing in major developments such as the airport, ORR, and IT companies.
He credited Congress for transforming the city and bringing the Metro Rail to Hyderabad, ultimately contributing to its status as an international city. He also reminded us that it was PJR (P Janardhan Reddy) who led movements to bring Krishna and Godavari waters for the people’s needs.
Revanth Reddy accused the BRS government of selling ORR assets worth thousands of crores in a reckless manner, alleging they did so with the knowledge that the people were going to defeat them.
Revanth Reddy clarified that Harish Rao had requested an inquiry into the ORR tender, and he was now ordering an SIT inquiry as per that request. He added that the procedures would be discussed in the cabinet, and the inquiry would be carried out accordingly.
Responding to CM Revanth Reddy’s order for the SIT inquiry, Harish Rao clarified that he had not specifically demanded an inquiry into the ORR tender.
However, he welcomed the inquiry and urged the government to cancel the tender first and then proceed with the investigation.
Responding to this, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that it is not possible to cancel the tender directly without an inquiry. He explained that the tender would be canceled based on the findings of the inquiry. Therefore, the government has ordered an inquiry into the ORR tender.
