CM invites everyone to the Telangana Talli statue unveiling.
HYDERABAD, DEC 9 : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday invited all political parties to attend the unveiling ceremony of the Telangana Talli statue at the Secretariat this evening.
Speaking during the inaugural session of the Winter Assembly, the Chief Minister announced the event and addressed criticisms from opposition parties about the concept of Telangana Talli.
He highlighted its cultural importance, emphasising that Telangana Talli is a symbol of unity, culture, and tradition that reflects the identity of the state.
The Chief Minister clarified that Telangana Talli is not a goddess but a representation of the cultural ethos of the region.
He stated, “No mother has a crown; only goddesses have crowns. Telangana village goddess Pochamma does not have a crown. This should be explained to the people. Telangana Talli symbolises our culture and traditions, uniting and leading 4 crore people. We have created a pedestal reflecting our history and traditions.”
Revanth Reddy highlighted December 9 as a landmark date in Telangana’s history, marking the announcement of statehood in 2009. He called it a festival for the people and said that the unveiling of the Telangana Talli statue was a tribute to the aspirations and struggles of the state’s people.
He quoted poet Dasarathi’s lines, “My Telangana… A lute of crores of gems,” to underscore the cultural and emotional significance of Telangana Talli. The Chief Minister stressed that the statue represents the unity of the people during the self-rule movement and the realisation of the concept of nationhood.
To honour this legacy, Revanth Reddy announced plans to celebrate “Telangana Talli Avataran Utsav” every year on December 9. He paid tribute to martyrs like Srikanthachari and others who sacrificed their lives for the statehood movement, emphasising their pivotal role in Telangana’s history.
The Chief Minister also urged all political leaders to set aside their differences for the day. He said, “There was a debate about the form of Telangana Talli, whether she should be like a goddess or like a mother. We decided on a form that represents a Bahujan Mother. Let us put politics aside for one day and celebrate this moment together. Political discussions can resume tomorrow.”
Revanth Reddy extended invitations to leaders from all parties, including BRS Chief and former CM KCR, Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and communist leaders, to attend the unveiling ceremony scheduled for 1800 hours.
