LONDON, OCT 16 :Cameron Diaz, regarded as one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars, says one of the main reasons she’s returning to the big screen is her husband’s support..

“He’s just the best,” Diaz, 52, said of Benji Madden, 45, during an a conversation on Tuesday at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, the BBC reported.

Known for being equally adept at romance and comedy, Diaz’s upcoming projects, including the Jamie Foxx film Back in Action, mark the end of a near-decade hiatus from acting.

Bursting into the Hollywood scene in 1994 with the hit comedy The Mask, that also catapulted her to instant stardom, Diaz has portrayed memorable roles in ever green movies like Being John Malkovich, Shrek and its sequel and There’s Something About Mary

After last starring in 2014’s Annie remake, she shifted focus to family, marrying Madden in 2015 and welcoming their daughter, Raddix, in 2019. They announced the arrival of their son Cardinal in March 2024.

Good Charlotte guitarist Madden, she continued, “was just like, ‘You’ve been supporting us and building the family.’ And supporting him in his businesses. He’s like, ‘It’s time for us to support you and let mommy ascend and do her thing.’”

Taking a step back from her screen career “felt like the right thing for me to reclaim my own life, and I just really didn’t care about anything else,” Diaz said..
