One Arrested, 12.7 kg Ganja Chocolates Seized in Telangana
HYDERABAD, SEP 23: Telangana police have arrested a drug peddler and seized 64 packets of ganja chocolates weighing 12.7 kilograms, along with 680 grams of dry ganja, all valued at Rs 1,05,900.
The arrest followed a joint operation by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT), Madhapur unit, and the Petbasheerabad Police.
The accused, Tamk Issar Singh (55), a resident of Yellammaband, Jagadgirigutta, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, was apprehended at the Suchitra X Road Auto Stand while transporting the contraband from Punjab to Hyderabad, according to a police statement on Monday.
Tamk Issar Singh’s family had migrated to Telangana and settled in Suryapet town, where they made household items. However, ten years ago, the accused moved to Gajularamaram, Hyderabad and continued his trade, but his earnings were insufficient due to his bad habits.
Faced with financial difficulties, Singh turned to illegal activities, including the sale of ganja chocolates. He procured the contraband from an unidentified drug peddler in Anandpur Sahib, Ranipur District, Punjab, and sold it to construction labourers and others at Rs 40 per packet.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he had purchased the 12.7 kilograms of ganja chocolates and 680 grams of dry ganja from the unknown source in Punjab.
The police are now investigating the wider network involved in the transportation and sale of the contraband. Efforts are being made to trace the original supplier, and authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling.
