Hyderabad, Mar 17:The Congress has named former Minister K.Jana Reddy as its Candidate for the Nagarjunasagar Assembly byelection to be held on April 17.
AICC President Sonia Gandhi has cleared the name of Mr Reddy, Senior party leader Mukul Wasnik said in a release in New Delhi.
Mr Reddy has won the Nagarjunasagar Assembly seat on seven occasions earlier but lost to the ruling TRS in 2018 Assembly election.
It may be mentioned that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued the schedule on Tuesday for the Nagarajunasagar bypoll.

The notification for the byelection will be issued on March 23 and the filing of nominations will start on the same day, the last day of filing nominations will be on March 30 and the last day for withdrawal of nominations will be April three.
The counting of votes will be taken up on May two.
The byelection in the constituency was necessitated following the death of Nomula Narasimhaiah of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.(UNI)
