Building in Kolkata housing worker apartments and a CBI office on fire

KOLKATA, SEP 3 :  A fire broke out on Tuesday on the 5th floor of Kolkata’s Nizam Palace, a high-rise building in which there are offices of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and residential flats of the federal agency’s staff, apart from other establishments, official sources said. No one was injured.

The occupants of residential quarters, including those of CBI officials, on the 5th floor were evacuated soon after the fire was detected, sources said.

Six fire tenders brought the flames under control, said sources, adding that the cause of fire was still being ascertained.

Incidentally, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital’s former principal Sandip Ghosh and three others arrested by the CBI on Monday evening were kept at the agency’s 15th floor office in the same building.(UNI)
