A Dalit leader accuses Rahul Gandhi of making “anti-women remarks” and files a PIL.
BENGALURU, JULY 30 : A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Karnataka High Court against Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, for allegedly making anti-women statements during a speech in May, a lawyer said on Tuesday.
The PIL was filed by Chi Na Ramu, the National President of the All-India Dalit Action Committee, the lawyer said, adding that no decision has yet been taken whether the plea would come up for hearing.
The controversy stems from Rahul Gandhi’s public speech in Karnataka, where he allegedly accused former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna of committing mass rape and recording the incidents.
He pointed to Rahul Gandhi’s statements about 400 instances of mass rape, suggesting that such serious accusations without evidence could have severe consequences.
Ramu, who previously served as the National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Castes Morcha, claimed there was no evidence to support Rahul Gandhi’s explosive allegations.
He asserted that no complaints have been filed by the women purportedly affected by these alleged crimes.
In his PIL, Ramu has not just sought legal action against Rahul Gandhi but also demanded an apology for the remarks.(UNI)
