Claims that the White House told Lebanon of the Israeli strike are denied.
WASHINGTON, JULY 30 : The White House on Tuesday dismissed allegations that US officials had informed Lebanon in advance about the military actions Israel was taking in retaliation for the attack on the occupied Golan Heights.
“These reports are false,” White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said on X.
The Israeli army said on Saturday that 12 people had been killed in a rocket strike on the Golan Heights, which it blamed on Hezbollah. The Lebanese movement denied the claim. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would not leave the attack on the Golan Heights unanswered and Hezbollah would pay a price “it has never paid before.”
On Sunday morning, the Israeli army said it had carried out strikes on a number of Hezbollah targets deep in Lebanon and in the south of the country. Israeli media reported, citing a Lebanese official, that Biden’s senior adviser, Amos Hochstein, notified Lebanon in advance of the Israeli strikes.(UNI)
