HYDERABAD, JULY 28 :  Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. Varma (66), the former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, replaces the current in-charge Governor CP Radhakrishnan.

Jishnu Dev Varma, born on August 15, 1957, belongs to the royal family. He is married and has two sons. He joined the BJP in the early 1990s and participated in the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Between 2018-2023, he served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura and President of the Tripura Badminton Association.

Late on Saturday night, Rashtrapati Bhavan issued orders appointing new governors for Telangana and six other states. Governors of three states were also transferred.(UNI)
