Vidarbha records max temp of 40.1 deg C

Pune, Mar 9 :The highest maximum temperature of 40.1°C was reported at Brahmapuri (Vidarbha) in the country.
Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Vidarbha and Jharkhand; at many places over Himachal Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh; at a few places over Rajasthan, Odisha and west Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Punjab, east Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Konkan and Goa; at many places over Uttarakhand and coastal Karnataka; at a few places over Gujarat Region and Madhya Maharashtra; at isolated places over west Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe.
They were markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Andaman, Nicobar Islands and near normal over rest parts of the country.

Night temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over west Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Punjab; at many places over east Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura; at a few places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra, Kutch, Chhattisgarh and coastal Karnataka; at many places over Madhya Pradesh and Odisha; at a few places over Assam, Meghalaya, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Vidarbha.
They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over south Interior Karnataka; at a few places over Rayalaseema and near normal over rest parts of the country.
The lowest minimum temperature of 13.2°C reported at Amritsar (Punjab) over the plains of the country.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and at isolated places Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Karnataka state. (UNI)
