Bengaluru, Mar 7:Using the people’s wrath on the oil prices in the country, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday strongly criticized central for trying to include the petroleum products into the GST which would be a death nail to the states revenue.

In a series of tweets, he said the revenue generated from imposing tax on petroleum belongs to the state. The centre has been increasing taxes, getting more revenue generation, but now they are trying to include the petroleum into the gst which will be a heavy burden on the state revenue.

Alleging that the centre has already not paid the GST relief to the states and pending crores of rupees and if they introduce GST in petroleum products it would be severe threat the state governments revenue, he said

He also said that it would also threat to the states developments besides even state government has to present deficit budget, hence., the centre idea of include the petroleum products into the GST should be dropped, he said (UNI)
