Two pilgrims killed as lorry rams tractor trailer
Eluru, Mar 7 :Two pilgrims, including an 18-month-old girl, were killed and 18 others were injured when the tractor trailer on which they were travelling was rammed by a lorry at Srinivasapuram Junction at Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district on Sunday.
Police said that about 20 people belonging to Chittavaram village in Krishna district were going to Gubbala Mangamma temple, located at Buttayagudem in WG district, on pilgrimage.
The truck stopped at a hotel for tea-break. At the same time, a speeding lorry which was going to Hyderabad from Rajahmundry, rammed the stationary tractor trailer from rear end killing Rambabu (55) and Sahasra (one-and-half-year). The injured were shifted to the government general hospital here.
The condition of four of the victims is said to be critical. Under the impact of the collision the tractor trailer overturned under the victims crushed, police said. (UNI)
