NEW DELHI, JUNE 6 :   The higher education department of Delhi Government on Thursday reappointed Dr Mahesh Verma as Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).

In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section 4 of Statute 3(B) of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998 (9 of 1998), the Honourable Lt. Governor of Delhi and Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has been re-appointed Dr. Mahesh Verma as Vice Chancellor of the university, a statement said.

Verma’s re-appointment is for another term or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
Other terms and conditions of his re-appointment will be governed by the statutory provisions of the Act and Statutes of GGSIP University, Delhi.

Verma has received the State Award from the Government of Delhi in 2001, the B. C. Roy Award in 2007, and the civilian award of Padma Shri in 2014.(UNI)
