21-year-old Nancy becomes bus driver, sets example for women
Hamirpur (HP), Mar 6 :A 21-year-old girl from Kashmir village of Nadaun tehsil has become a bus driver to manage her own affairs, creating an example of women empowerment.
Nancy has chosen this field as her career and has shown the way to all the girls to not hesitate working in any field.
Nancy has surprised everyone by learning bus driving at the local Driving School of the Himachal Road transport corporation and her dreams consist of joining the Indian army to run trucks and other vehicles there.
The 21-year-old girl, who has a B.Com degree, was inspired by her mother to drive the bus. She completed two months of bus driver training at Hamirpur HRTC depot with the full satisfaction of the trainers. Nancy said that she has been fond of driving since childhood and the family has also supported her to learn driving.
Nancy’s mother Jamana Devi said that she was the happiest after she came to know that Nancy had completed her training in driving.
“While training in driving school, she has gained knowledge about driving the bus as well as its parts,” says Ajay Kumar, the training instructor of the HRTC.
Ajay says that out of a total of 17 trainees, Nancy was the only girl, now she is fully skilled in driving the bus.
HRTC RM Hamirpur Vivek Lakhanpal said that it was a matter of pride for the district. It has been a challenge to teach a girl the training of driving but the way worked has surprised all.
Nancy’s father is posted in Chandigarh Police while mother is a homely lady. (UNI)
