Telangana reports 166 fresh COVID-19 cases, two fatalities
Hyderabad, Mar 5 : Telangana’s Coronavirus infections reached 2,99,572 so far with 166 fresh COVID-19 cases reported in the state until 2000 hours on Thursday.
The state suffered two COVID-19 deaths afresh in the past 24 hours to take the death toll to 1,639 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Friday.
As many as 149 people have recovered from Coronavirus statewide since the last 24 hours pushing the total recoveries thus far to 2,95,970 constituting a recovery rate of 98.79 per cent while the national recovery rate was 97 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state currently stand at 1,963 including 830 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
About 40,443 swab samples have been tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 536 swab samples are awaited.
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, more than 88.83 lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) remained the main contributor of the infection by reporting a maximum of 27 new Coronavirus cases followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district 14 cases and Rangareddy district 12 cases.
The remaining COVID-19 cases have been reported by other districts, the bulletin added. (UNI)
