AP: In the Kakinada district, two elderly people pass away following a vote
KAKINADA, MAY 14 : Two aged women died after casting their votes – one at the polling booth itself and the other soon after reaching home on Monday, police said,
In the first case Rongala Simhachalam (70) used her voting right at booth number 41 of A. Mallavaram village of Peddapuram sub-division but on reaching home collapsed at the entrance and breathed her last.
Similarly in Kakinada city Ahammad Unnisa Shaik (68) suddenly collapsed after coming out of the polling station in municipal corporation committee hall Recharlapeta around noon .
She was declared dead much before the first aid was given by the medical staff, police added.
Except these two unhappy incidents, the polling has been by and large peaceful in Kakinada district which has one parliamentary constituency and seven assembly segments.
The Pithapuram Assembly constituency from where Jana sena chief Pavan kalyan was contesting, the polling was brisk and when compared to other places the turnout was the highest, official sources added.(UNI)
