AP CM: Can Naidu guarantee reservations for minorities in front of PM Modi?
KURNOOL, MAY 9 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy said TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu likes to continue with BJP, which wants to remove 4% reservation to Muslims, but on the other hand, he comes up with new drama to seek minority votes.
“The 4 percent reservation for Muslims will remain in the state. Will Chandrababu Naidu be able to speak about the same in the presence of Narendra Modi?” asked Reddy while addressing an election meeting here on Thursday.
He questioned the motive behind TDP’s alliance with BJP even after they promised to give away the minority rights.
“Four percent reservation is not given based on religion. The reservation does not categorize the higher caste in the Muslim community like Pathan or Syeds. This reservation is for the backward class of the Muslim Community. People have to note that every religion has a BC, an OC category citizen. It is unacceptable and morally wrong to view minorities through a discriminatory lens. These reservations will persist at all costs,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Reddy said that whether it is Muslim reservation, NRC, CAA, or any others of minorities, the YSR Congress Party will always stand as a steadfast pillar, supporting their dignity and honour. Schemes like Shadi Thofa, declaring Urdu as a second language, 4 % political reservation for minorities, and a minority MLA serving as the deputy Chief minister for five years in the YSRCP government were the initiatives taken by the YSRCP government, he added.
“I have appointed a minority leader as the Vice President of the Legislative Council. Out of the 175 seats, 4% of the seats were given to minorities as political reservations. Can Chandrababu Naidu even say that he has done any good for the minority community in his life?,” the Chief Minister questioned.(UNI)
