Development for all, no appeasement: Yogi
Lucknow, Mar 3 :Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday lambasted the previous government for indulging in the appeasement policy even in implementation of government schemes and dissemination of benefits of those among the masses.
“If we look at the previous regimes, it is noticeable that the minority community received a major share of government schemes which was not in proportion of their population,’ he said while speaking in the upper house of the state legislature during discussion on the budget of financial year 2021-22.
He said that the population of minorities in the state is 17 to 19 per cent and the minority society gets 30 to 35 per cent of the benefits of the schemes till 2017. This trend can be seen in all the schemes Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Saubhagya, Ujjawala, Foodgrain Scheme, Ayushman Bharat or Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana where the minorities were the main beneficiaries. The trend reversed after PM Narendra Modi came to power in 2014 and since then the benefits to the various communities have been uniform irrespective of any discrimination, the CM said.
The UP CM said that another hallmark of his government being that the benefits of the government schemes reached to every section of the society without discrimination on the religion, caste or regional basis. While driving home the point that his government never indulged in the appeasement policies and always followed the dictum of ‘development for all’, he said it was evident from the government policies and action that we worked on the ideology of ‘Saabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.
Without mincing his words, he said that Samajwadi Party indulged in the ‘pick and choose’ policy as far as extending the benefits of the government schemes were concerned. ” My government has never discriminated in the way, previous government did,’ he said that ” this is why, my government enjoys support and affection of all the sections of the society.
He said that the budget size of the previous government also smacked of their lack of vision and and any futuristic approach. “For a population of 23 crore, the budget was in the range of two lakh crore which was nowhere near the state like Uttar Pradesh wanted,’ he pointed out.
He said that at the time of independence in the country, the economy of the state was at the top. UP continued to slide when Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Congress or other parties ruled the state. which were in power at that time. He said despite corona times, we presented the budget of five and a half lakh crores under a certain theme.
He said that UP had seen the embarrassing times before foreign dignitaries to tell about the state. “Today, we feel proud in presenting ourselves as the second biggest economy of the country and increased per capita income as well as the financial stability,’ he said. (UNI)
