Arrest of TDP leader triggers tension at Punganur police station

Chittoor, Feb 28 :TDP activists resorted to a dharna at Punganur police station condemning the arrest of Chowdepalli party president Ramesh Reddy on Sunday.
The Telugu Desam Party local workers alleged that the police are acting in favor of ruling party and have been arresting their leaders on false cases.
The police tried to explain them the reason for arresting Ramesh Reddy but in vain. The advocate council on behalf of arrestee argued with the police for arresting a person without issuing notices 24 hours before the arrest.
However, the police produced Ramesh Reddy in the Punganur court where the Judge has not allowed police to send the arrestee for remand in order to not issuing notice to him before arrest.
No option left for police but to issue notice in the court complex itself and later sent him remand.
The police said they have arrested Ramesh Reddy on an old case related to threatening a person with weapons and also for hurting a woman with filthy language and they also stated that they have registered the case under IPC sections 447, 324 and 509.(UNI)
