Tripuri community in the bordering subdivision of Gandacharra in the northern Tripura district
of Dhalai here.
The Chief Minister today attended two separate programmes in the district at Madhab Master
Para of Chawmanu in the bordering subdivision of Longthoraivalley and then in Kaviguru Higher Secondary School field in Gandacharra.
In the first programme, the Social Head of Chakma community was felicitated and in
Gandacharra the Social Head of Tripuri community was felicitated.
In both the places the Chief Minister declared a monthly honorarium for the felicitated
persons.
During the occasion the Chief Minister reiterated, “The occasion is a historic one as it
strengthens our love, affection and harmony as well as in some extent represents our
respect towards the ethnic communities. The state government is committed to honour
and glorify the rich culture and heritage of all the 19 major tribal communities in the state.
And it is the beginning. We have already started to work on Customary Laws of the
communities and all these would lead us towards cherished development”.
The Chief Minister claimed, “In the leftist regime the works under Pradhan Mantri Gram
Sadak Yojana(PMGSY) were not supervised by the state government. As a result, the
contractors worked at their will and got the bills even after not completing the works. As
a result, the roads collapsed within a very short period and people got into suffering. But
the tradition has changed. We are keeping strict vigil on each and every work. And to
better the condition of the rural roads, the state government has already sanctioned 362
crores of rupees for 68 rural roads in the state. The Public Works Department would take
up roadworks worth 96 crores of rupees very soon. And all these works are to be
completed within 2022.”
In the programmes local people participated in huge numbers and the initiatives are
being taken as part of political propaganda of BJP eyeing the ADC and Civic body
elections. (UNI)
