Cong fighting for power within party, does not care about people: AAP

Chandigarh, Feb 28 : Taking a jibe at the internal bickering going on in the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday said that members of the grand old party were busy in fighting for power among themselves and did not care about the people of Punjab.

In a statement here, party’s Punjab unit president and MP Bhagwant Mann said, ‘Members of Congress are busy in a mutual fight. They do not care about the people of Punjab. This fight is very deadly for Punjab and its people.’

Commenting on the claims made by senior Congress leaders about the continuous weakening of their party, Mr Mann said it has exposed the reality of where the party stands.

After Congress leaders from Punjab, senior leaders of the national leadership have now raised their voice against the party high command, which showed that Congress was a party of liars, which was incapable of working and living up to the expectations of people, added the MP.

According to Mr Mann, Congress had been fighting for several days on the issue pertaining to the Chief Minister’s face.

He said on one hand, Congress president Sunil Jakhar declared that Capt Amarinder Singh would be the CM face of Congress in 2022 elections, while on the other, leaders of their own opposing faction were saying that the party high command will decide the face of the Chief Minister.

Congress was spending so much time fighting amongst themselves and for their CM’s face, and if they would have spent this time working for the people and making policies for their welfare, it would have been better for Punjab, added the MP.

Slamming Capt Singh for not doing anything for the people of Punjab, Mr Mann said in the last four years, the Captain-led Congress government had not fulfilled any of their promises.

‘Different ideologies, along with the mutual fight of Congress leaders and their MLAs admitting the failures of their own party, has exposed the inability of Captain government, which has not done anything in the last four years,’ he added.

He said the question raised by Congress MLA Pargat Singh on his own government recently had also proved the failure of the Captain government for not living up to the expectations of the people.

Mr Mann said that Captain Singh had promised the people of Punjab before the Assembly elections in 2017 to end the mafia rule, waive all debts of the farmers, eradicate drugs from Punjab in four weeks and give jobs to the unemployed, but as soon as Captain came to power, he forgot everything, neglected the people and betrayed them.

The Aam Aadmi Party had been exposing this poor performance of the Captain’s government in the Vidhan Sabha and in the court of people. He said just like the Congress had been wiped out in the other states of the country, in the 2022 Assembly elections, it will be wiped out from Punjab too. (UNI)
