Ludhiana, Feb 28 :The Special Task Force (STF) of Punjab Police on Sunday nabbed two drug smugglers in the city and recovered 2.017 kgs heroin from their possession.
STF SP Surinder Kumar said that acting on secret information received, a team led by Inspector Harbans Singh laid a special check post near Subzi Mandi and intercepted a Tata 709 vehicle. During search of the vehicle, the team seized 2.017 kg heroin from it.
Police nabbed the two drug smugglers, identified as Kamaljit Singh alias Kamal and Bhupinder Singh alias Bhinda while the kingpin of the gang- Rajvir Singh managed to escape from the spot.
The value of the seized contraband is Rs 12 crores in the international market. (UNI)
