The Indiramma Housing Scheme’s primary funding sources are Center: BJP

HYDERABAD, MAR 11   :   Telangana BJP Spokesperson Rani Rudramma asserted on Monday that a significant portion of the funds allocated for the Indiramma Housing Scheme, inaugurated by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Telangana, are provided by the central government.

In a media statement, Rudramma emphasised that the Congress government in the state initiated the Indiramma Housing Scheme using central funds from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme and loans obtained through central assistance from HUDCO.

She pointed out that Prime Minister Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Avasa Yojana scheme nine years ago to provide every poor family in India with their own house. Across the country, 4 crore houses have been constructed in the past nine years, fulfilling the dreams of the underprivileged.

In Telangana, an allocation of Rs 5894 crore for 250,000 houses was made in the first year to ensure housing for all. However, Rudramma highlighted the negligence of the previous BRS government, resulting in the incomplete implementation of the scheme.

Anticipating a BJP government’s return to the centre, the current state government submitted a list of 70,000 houses distributed by the previous government before the last assembly elections to be included in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme. The centre is expected to deposit around Rs 600 crore for these houses.

According to the government order released by the state government on March 5, 2024, HUDCO is obtaining a loan of Rs 3000 crores for a total of 95,235 houses in the state, amounting to approximately Rs 3 lakh per house.
Direct payments of Rs 1,50,000 per household in urban areas and Rs 72,000 per household in rural areas will be provided by the Center through the Pradhan Mantri Avasa Yojana scheme. Out of the Rs 5 lakh allocated by the state government for each house, Rs 4,50,000 comes from the central contribution.

Rudramma expressed the BJP’s anticipation that, with the Modi government returning to power for the third time, the construction of houses for every poor family in Telangana can be completed within the next 5 years. (UNI)
