Thane, Feb 27 :Two persons were arrested and seized a banned gutka worth Rs. 20.35 lakhs from them at Varsova Naka, the police said today.

Acting on a tip-off that a banned gutka was being transported into Mumbai through Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway, the police intercepted a tempo and seized different brands of gutka on Friday and tobacco products which are banned in Maharashtra valued around 20.35 lakh.

Arrested persons were Mohammad Almin Jabbar Khan, the driver and Mohammad Junaid Liaquat Khan (cleaner).

An offence was registered under sections 328,188,272,273 of the IPC and further investigation was on, police added. (UNI)
